The 10 Skilljar by Gainsight alternatives compared here are Intellum, Thought Industries, Docebo, LearnUpon, Absorb LMS, 360Learning, Litmos, TalentLMS, WorkRamp (now Learn:Up and Academy by Confirm), and Cornerstone OnDemand.
Vendor facts verified September 23, 2026
Skilljar is built for external education: training the customers and partners who use a company's product. Gainsight acquired Skilljar in April 2025. The case for an alternative starts when the academy has to share a platform with partner programs, employee training, or a data model the rest of the business already uses.
Intellum fits enterprises that run customer, partner, and employee education on one platform. Creator Agent, Manager Agent, and Learner Agent are available now, each with its own MCP server, and the Data Connector moves learning data into the customer's own warehouse as it happens. Each audience runs as its own organization in one multi-tenant instance, backed by an annual SOC 2 Type II audit.
Intellum checked current first-party pricing, product, support, and developer pages for Skilljar and each alternative on this page between September 21 and 23, 2026.
Skilljar names employees only in its Enterprise tier.
Essentials is "Ideal for starting your customer or partner Academy." Enterprise is "For teams scaling to thousands of learners across customers, partners, or employees."
Skilljar publishes add-on prices, not base prices.
The Data Connector starts at $25,000 and Language Packs at $10,000 for five languages, according to its pricing page. Content Syndication is included in Professional and Enterprise, with $10,000 listed under add-ons.
Two Skilljar AI features are in beta.
The Skilljar MCP Server is in beta, and AI Tutor is an opt-in beta.
Most alternatives here name employees as well as customers.
Thought Industries, Docebo, Absorb LMS, 360Learning, Litmos, TalentLMS, and Intellum all publicly name internal and external audiences.
The biggest gaps are in data access and AI connectivity, not course delivery.
Vendors differ on whether learning data reaches a warehouse, how current it is, and whether it costs extra.
This is not a scored ranking. The order below groups platforms by how closely they match a Skilljar buyer's starting point, a customer or partner academy.
For each platform, we checked the vendor's own pages for:
We do not estimate unpublished pricing in the vendor entries. Where a third party publishes contract data, we name the source and date.
Features labeled beta, open beta, preview, early access, or coming soon are described that way.

One row per platform, Intellum first. Pricing shows only what each vendor publishes on its own site. Facts checked September 23, 2026.
Intellum is an enterprise learning platform for education delivered to customers, partners, and employees from one platform, with each audience given its own experience, permissions, and branding.
Skilljar's entry tier is "Ideal for starting your customer or partner Academy." Intellum is built for programs where the same content and data also serve partner enablement and employee training. Intellum built external customer education in 2015, when Facebook came asking for it.
impact.com runs its Partnerships Experience Academy on Intellum. More than 12,000 learners have come through the academy since its 2021 launch, including 1,000 impact.com employees, according to Intellum's published case study.
Intellum quotes each program to its requirements rather than publishing a rate card. Compare total cost of ownership: the full quote plus every add-on the program needs.
Three agents are available: Creator Agent for turning source material into courses, Manager Agent for administration, reporting, and workflow automation in natural language, and Learner Agent as a contextual tutor.
Each agent has its own dedicated MCP server, so the connection an administrator uses is separate from the one a learner uses.
The Data Connector moves learning data into the customer's own warehouse as it happens, where it sits next to product adoption, retention, and revenue data the business already measures. APIs and Pub/Sub event streaming are also available.
Intellum holds a SOC 2 Type II report from an annual independent audit, has completed a third-party HIPAA attestation, and is certified under the EU-U.S., UK, and Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Customers, partners, and employees run as separate organizations in one multi-tenant instance, each with its own SSO, branding, and permissions. Data is encrypted with AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.2 or higher in transit and hosted in the US or EU, under a 99.9% monthly uptime SLA. Intellum also publishes a security, privacy, and architecture summary.
Intellum's Platform Software Support Policy provides help desk access "for the account owner and two additional Client personnel." Checked September 24, 2026.
When one team has to run a customer academy, a partner program, and employee training on shared infrastructure, and report on all three against business metrics, Intellum is designed for that case.
Skilljar is a learning platform for customer and partner education. Gainsight acquired Skilljar on April 2, 2025.
Teams launching or running a branded customer academy. Skilljar publishes integrations with Salesforce, Gainsight, and Zendesk, SSO over SAML 2.0 and OAuth 2.0, and course commerce through Stripe and PayPal.
Skilljar charges an annual subscription (Essentials, Professional, or Enterprise) plus an active-user fee based on the number of active users taking lessons in a year. Add-ons are priced separately: the Data Connector from $25,000 and Language Packs from $10,000 for five languages. Content Syndication is included in Professional and Enterprise, with $10,000 listed under add-ons. LearnExperts, an AI course-creation add-on, is listed without a price.
Gainsight's AI features page, updated June 10, 2026, lists a learning objectives generator, course descriptions, quiz generation, AI Tutor, course rating summaries, and MCP. AI Tutor is an opt-in beta. The Skilljar MCP Server is in beta. Gainsight's setup guide for Claude, last updated August 21, 2026, covers two capability areas: student and user management, and course content management. It names Claude Code and Microsoft Frontier as supported clients, and a separate Gainsight beta guide covers ChatGPT.
The Data Connector is a customer-specific PostgreSQL database hosted on AWS with more than 35 tables of student information, replicated in near-real time. It is a paid add-on starting at $25,000.
Skilljar's pricing page lists "3 Academy Sites with Custom Themes" on Enterprise, "2 Academy Sites with Custom Themes" on Professional, and "1 Academy Site with Custom Themes" on Essentials. Checked September 24, 2026.
Skilljar is positioned for external education, and Gainsight's own FAQ contrasts it with internal LMS platforms built for employee training. Intellum runs customer, partner, and employee education on one platform and includes three agents, each with an MCP server, that are generally available rather than in beta.
Thought Industries positions its platform around training customers, partners, and members, with employee learning also supported.
It starts from the same place as Skilljar, external education. Its integrations page lists Salesforce, SSO, Content Syndication through SCORM Connect, SFTP, webhooks, and REST and GraphQL APIs.
Three tiers, Starter, Professional, and Enterprise, with no dollar amounts published. Every tier's call to action is a sales conversation.
Its AI page lists a conversational learning assistant, AI content creation, AI video, AI coaching, and AI recommendations. Thought Industries for Claude is in open beta, and Thought Industries says the plugin includes MCP capabilities plus workflow skills. Every change it makes is saved as a draft until an administrator publishes it.
Advanced analytics, BI-tool connectivity, full data integration, and webhook, SFTP, and API workflows are listed at the Enterprise tier.
Thought Industries' Understanding Panorama article states: "Panorama Custom Domains are a premium feature and are behind a feature flag." Checked September 24, 2026.
Both platforms serve external audiences first. Intellum publishes an MCP server for each of its three agents, while Thought Industries' Claude connection is an open-beta plugin that includes MCP capabilities. Thought Industries lists its deepest data integration at the Enterprise tier.
Docebo is a multi-audience enterprise learning platform. Its Learning Platform page names employee training, customer education, and partner enablement.
Docebo combines customer education with employee learning and sells Extended Enterprise for multi-domain external programs.
Docebo's Learning Platform page states $9 per user with a 250-user minimum. Its pricing page describes custom pricing across two tiers, with 14 named paid add-ons as of September 23, 2026. Extended Enterprise is an add-on on the lower tier and is included in Enterprise for up to 10 domains.
Docebo's MCP Server became generally available in July 2026 and works with Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Gemini. AI content creation and Docebo Roleplay use usage-based AI credits. AgentHub is listed as coming Fall 2026.
APIs, webhooks, and reporting are standard. Enterprise adds upgraded API access and a dedicated database.
Docebo's pricing page lists "Upgraded API access" at "100 calls/min" in the Enterprise tier only. Checked September 24, 2026.
Both cover all three audiences. Docebo packages more capability as add-ons and tier upgrades. Intellum's agents each carry their own MCP server, and its Data Connector is built to move learning data into the customer's warehouse. Teams weighing Docebo itself can see the full field of Docebo alternatives.
LearnUpon sells separate offers for employees, customer education, and associations, managed through Learning Portals that give each audience its own experience from one account.
It has a dedicated Customer Education offer.
LearnUpon for Customer Education starts at 300 users. LearnUpon for Employees starts at 100 users. Dollar pricing is not published.
Create+, Ask Lia, AI-assisted assessments, and agentic features are listed. Reporting MCP lets customers query reporting data from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and other MCP-compatible tools, on newer pricing plans only.
Two-way API access, webhooks, reporting, and Reporting MCP.
LearnUpon's sub-portal licensing article states: "A sub-portal with user licenses requires a license for every user, including learners, administrators, managers and instructors." Checked September 24, 2026.
LearnUpon's MCP is focused on reporting data. Intellum publishes a separate MCP server for content creation, administration, and learner support.
Absorb supports employees plus customers, partners, vendors, and other external groups.
Absorb covers internal and external audiences, and it offers direct database access for reporting.
No base price is published. The quote form asks for learner volume, from 1 to 50 through 25,000 and above.
Absorb launched Absorb Aura in May 2026, which Absorb describes as a coordinated system of specialized AI agents for learning, administration, and workflow support.
Analyze Direct pulls LMS data into BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau. Absorb also publishes read-only SQL database access for reporting data.
Absorb's Portal Multi-tenancy article states: "Some turnkey integrations are limited to one-to-one relationships (external system ↔ Portal)." Checked September 24, 2026.
Both cover internal and external audiences, and both get reporting data into BI tools. Intellum adds an MCP server for each of its three agents. Ask Absorb which Analyze package and Aura capabilities the quote includes.
360Learning describes its product as supporting workforce upskilling and customer education, with collaborative authoring at the center.
It lets subject-matter experts author and update courses together, and its Business and Enterprise contracts can combine registered and monthly active users across internal and external audiences.
The Team plan is $8 per user per month for up to 100 users. Business and Enterprise are custom.
AI-assisted authoring plus an MCP Server, in beta and available on request, that supports Claude, ChatGPT, and Dust, with Gemini in progress.
Data Connect provides raw learning data through a Snowflake-powered warehouse, synchronized daily, with some tables updated more often.
360Learning's Limitations article lists groups at a "Hard limit" of 30,000 and a "Recommended limit" of 10,000, under "Maximum number of elements throughout the platform." Checked September 24, 2026.
360Learning's emphasis is internal expertise turned into training. Intellum's is running external and internal education together and moving that data next to business outcomes as it happens.
Litmos supports employees, customers, partners, and frontline teams, and sells Foundation, Platinum, and Platinum AI packages.
Litmos publishes dedicated customer-training and partner-enablement solutions, and sells content libraries alongside the platform.
No dollar pricing is published. Business Intelligence, additional tenants, extra API capacity, sandboxes, services, and content libraries are sold as add-ons.
Platinum AI covers AI content management, AI authoring, AI video assessment, AI Insights, and AI-driven growth.
APIs and integrations, with Business Intelligence as an add-on.
Litmos's pricing page lists "Additional Tenants" as "Add-on available" on Foundation, Platinum, and Platinum AI, described as "Separate environments when you prefer not to manage brands, business units, or audiences from a single environment." Checked September 24, 2026.
Litmos puts more weight on content and compliance. Intellum puts more weight on multi-audience program design, agents with MCP servers, and warehouse connectivity.
TalentLMS supports employee, customer, partner, and extended-enterprise training, with published list prices.
Price transparency. It is one of the few vendors on this page with a published starting price.
Core starts at $119 per month, Grow at $229, and Pro at $449, with $6 per additional Pro user. Enterprise starts at 1,000 users.
TalentCraft and AI Coach, with AI-credit allowances on Grow, Pro, Enterprise, and Flex.
Reporting, exports, integrations, and API access, varying by plan.
TalentLMS's pricing page lists "1 branch" on Core, "3 branches" on Grow, "15 branches" on Pro, and "Unlimited branches" on Enterprise. Checked September 24, 2026.
TalentLMS is a lower-cost entry point. Intellum is designed for enterprise programs where audience segmentation, integrations, and business-data connectivity outweigh the starting price.
WorkRamp's customer LMS is now a separate product called Academy, sold by Confirm. Confirm is the new name of Learning Pool, which acquired WorkRamp on October 15, 2025, and rebranded as Confirm on August 10, 2026.
Academy targets the same use case as Skilljar: a branded customer and partner academy with certifications, e-commerce, and SEO features.
Academy pricing is not published. Learn:Up, the core LMS, starts at $9 per user per month, billed annually, based on a 200-person company. Confirm states on its product pages that products are "sold separately."
Academy lists AI learning and AI course creation. Confirm documents MCP for Perform, its performance-management product, and lists a Learn:Up MCP server as coming soon. No MCP documentation was found for Academy.
Learn:Up's product page names Salesforce, Slack, Zoom, Okta, and Google Workspace among its integrations. Confirm publishes broader suite integrations separately.
Confirm's Learn:Up and Academy API documentation states: "This is a private API." It adds: "To get started, you must have an enterprise account provisioned for Learn:Up." Checked September 24, 2026.
Confirm sells Academy and Learn:Up separately, though Learn:Up also supports customer and partner training. Intellum runs customer, partner, and employee education on one platform and data foundation.
Cornerstone describes itself as "The intelligence platform for workforce readiness," with learning, talent, and skills products under the Cornerstone Workforce AI name.
It matters most when the company already runs Cornerstone for employees. Its Extended Enterprise product trains customers, certifies channel partners, and supports professional associations, with unlimited branded microsites and e-commerce.
No pricing is published. Cornerstone's LMS page says each organization's cost depends on needs and size.
Cornerstone's Workforce AI materials name agents including Proactive Coaching, Future of Work, and Workforce Insights, and say Cornerstone Workforce AI operates across Salesforce, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and other systems through MCP.
The Reporting API and Data Exporter API provide read-only access to Cornerstone data through its Real-time Data Warehouse.
Cornerstone's reporting API documentation notes that "there could be up to a 15-minute delay between the syncing of the transactional database and the data warehouse." Checked September 24, 2026.
Cornerstone's center is the internal workforce. Intellum's is education as a program in its own right, across customers, partners, and employees.
Gainsight owns Skilljar. Gainsight, a customer success platform, announced the acquisition on April 2, 2025.
Skilljar's support documentation now lives on Gainsight's support site, and Gainsight markets Skilljar as its "External LMS for customer education."
For buyers, the acquisition matters in two ways. Skilljar's product direction now sits inside a customer success suite, and Skilljar's native integrations with Gainsight CS are a reason to stay if the company already runs Gainsight. It is a reason to look elsewhere if learning has to serve employees and partners outside that customer success motion.
Teams look for a Skilljar alternative when the academy has to do more than customer education. The reasons that can be checked against Skilljar's own pages fall into four groups.
Employee training. Gainsight's Skilljar FAQ contrasts Skilljar with internal LMS platforms "built for employee training" and describes Skilljar as "purpose-built for external education." On the pricing page, employees appear only in the Enterprise tier description.
Data access that costs extra. The Data Connector, the route to Skilljar data in a warehouse, is a paid add-on starting at $25,000.
AI in beta. The Skilljar MCP Server and AI Tutor are both in beta. LearnExperts is a separate AI-authoring add-on, and the beta MCP can also create and update courses.
Content standards. Skilljar supports SCORM, AICC, and LCMS web packages. Its xAPI support is limited to cmi5-compliant packages, per Gainsight's support documentation.
None of these makes Skilljar a poor choice for a standalone customer academy. They matter when the program is larger than one.
Intellum, Docebo, Absorb LMS, 360Learning, Litmos, TalentLMS, Thought Industries, and LearnUpon all publicly name internal and external audiences.
How they do it differs, and the difference is what to test in a demo.
Ask each vendor whether employee and customer learners share content, reporting, and administration, or only a login screen.
Intellum, Thought Industries, and Docebo are the closest matches for a customer academy that is growing past a single program.
Intellum's case for scale is its customer base. Google delivers education content to millions of learners on Intellum, and Meta Blueprint serves millions of learners.
Thought Industries reserves its heaviest data and integration capabilities for its Enterprise tier. Docebo reserves Advanced Analytics and multi-domain Extended Enterprise for Enterprise or add-ons.
At this size, the useful questions are how many branded sites the contract includes, what happens to price as active users grow, and whether reporting can run against the company's own data warehouse. Skilljar's pricing page lists one, two, or three Academy sites with custom themes, by tier.
Most do, through different mechanisms, and several tie it to an add-on, a separate subscription, or a top tier, including Skilljar, Litmos, Thought Industries, Absorb LMS, 360Learning, and Docebo.
Ask each vendor which of these is in the base contract before comparing quotes.
Yes, in beta. Gainsight's setup guide for Claude, last updated August 21, 2026, covers two capability areas: student and user management, and course content management. It names Claude Code and Microsoft Frontier as supported clients, and a separate Gainsight beta guide covers ChatGPT.
The alternatives vary:
Check what each connection can read and change, not only whether it exists.
Five questions separate the options quickly.
For the full enterprise criteria, see The 9 Best Enterprise LMS Platforms.
Moving an academy covers content, users, completion and certification history, integrations, SSO, and learner communication. Timelines depend on how much of each there is.
Intellum's migration team runs the move with the customer rather than handing over a toolkit. The process is the same whichever platform an academy leaves. impact.com moved its academy to Intellum when its previous LMS could not grow with the program, after a 10-person committee ran an RFP. Samantha Parsons, now Senior Director, Ecosystem Enablement and Services, said: "Intellum's migration team took us through the process step by step, and we launched to a big spike in learner numbers and engagement."
For a new launch, Tended went live on Intellum in six weeks, including SSO, branding, and integration with its own product.

These answers reflect first-party vendor documentation checked on September 23, 2026.
Gainsight owns Skilljar. Gainsight announced the acquisition on April 2, 2025.
Skilljar does not publish base prices. Its pricing page lists an annual subscription tier plus an active-user fee, and add-ons including the Data Connector from $25,000 and Language Packs from $10,000 for five languages. Content Syndication is included in Professional and Enterprise, with $10,000 listed under add-ons.
No. Skilljar pricing combines an annual subscription plan, Essentials, Professional, or Enterprise, with a fee based on the number of active users taking lessons in a year.
Skilljar's Enterprise tier names employees, and its homepage mentions team members. Gainsight's Skilljar FAQ describes it as "purpose-built for external education," in contrast to internal LMS platforms built for employee training.
Yes, in beta. Gainsight's setup guide for Claude, last updated August 21, 2026, covers two capability areas: student and user management, and course content management. It names Claude Code and Microsoft Frontier as supported clients, and a separate Gainsight beta guide covers ChatGPT.
It depends on the audiences in the plan. Intellum fits customer academies that also need partner and employee education on one platform, with agents and MCP servers generally available. Thought Industries and Docebo also serve customer academies.
It depends on the volume of content, users, history, and integrations. Intellum's migration team runs the move with the customer. For a sense of pace on a new launch rather than a migration, Tended went live on Intellum in six weeks, including SSO and branding.
