Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory integration
Learners and admins sign in to Intellum with their Microsoft work account. Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory connect through SAML 2.0, LDAP or ADFS, and IT and an Intellum admin set it up with Intellum.
Common uses of the Microsoft Entra ID integration
- Access to learning follows the same policy IT applies to other apps in your Microsoft directory.
- Admins skip manual account setup, since accounts can be created the first time a person signs in.
How the Microsoft Entra ID integration works
Microsoft Entra ID, formerly Azure Active Directory, and Active Directory connect to Intellum through SAML 2.0, LDAP or ADFS.
At sign-in, an email or other identifier from your Microsoft directory identifies the person in Intellum. Accounts can be created the first time a person signs in through SAML or OAuth. Admins remove accounts through the API or a recurring user file.
How to set up the Microsoft Entra ID integration
IT connects Microsoft Entra ID or Active Directory, and an Intellum admin sets up sign-in for your site with Intellum. Your team chooses the method that fits your directory.
- Microsoft Entra ID or Active Directory with SAML 2.0, LDAP or ADFS
- An email or other identifier sent for each person
- A plan for removing accounts through the API or a recurring user file
How Intellum’s Entra ID and Active Directory integration handles access and data
- Authentication: SAML 2.0, LDAP or ADFS between Microsoft Entra ID or Active Directory and Intellum.
- Data: sign-in passes an identity assertion, such as an email or identifier, that identifies the person.
- Accounts: accounts can be created at first sign-in through SAML or OAuth. Admins remove accounts through the API or a recurring user file.
What to know about the Microsoft Entra ID integration
- Microsoft renamed Azure Active Directory to Microsoft Entra ID. Both names refer to the same cloud directory.
- Account removal runs through the Intellum API or a recurring user file, so build it into your offboarding steps.
