Honorlock integration for proctored exams
Certification and exam owners proctor Intellum assessments with Honorlock, including ID verification, browser lockdown and phone and voice detection. Admins connect Honorlock, and content editors set up each exam.
Common uses of the Honorlock integration
- Certification program owners run on-demand proctored exams that learners take when they are ready.
- Reviewers check flagged attempts against the high, medium and low incident thresholds set for each exam.
- Program owners turn on auto-fail so an attempt over the threshold fails without a manual review.
How the Honorlock integration works
Honorlock sets up the link between your organization’s Honorlock account and Intellum, and an admin enters the Honorlock API key and API URL in Settings › Apps. Content editors turn on Honorlock for each assessment, set high, medium and low flag thresholds, pick an Honorlock instructor and choose whether to auto-fail.
Learners take the exam in Chrome with the Honorlock extension. After they finish, Intellum imports the session timeline and incident counts. Attempts over a threshold wait for review.
How to set up the Honorlock integration
Honorlock sets up the link between your Honorlock account and Intellum. An admin enters the API key and API URL, and content editors configure each assessment. If Honorlock isn’t visible on your site, Intellum turns it on.

- Learners on Google Chrome with the Honorlock extension
- Assessments set up across multiple pages
How the Intellum and Honorlock integration handles access and data
- Authentication: a Honorlock API key and API URL that an admin enters in Settings › Apps.
- Data going out: Intellum sends course and exam names and IDs, the instructor, the schedule and a verification URL to Honorlock.
- Data coming in: Honorlock returns the session timeline, incident counts by severity and session timestamps.
- Storage: recordings and flags are stored in Honorlock.
- Browser: learners need Chrome with the Honorlock extension. Firefox, Safari, Edge and mobile devices are not supported.
What to know about the Honorlock integration
- Honorlock works only in Google Chrome, with no mobile support.
- Each assessment has one Honorlock instructor.
- An assessment can use Honorlock or Safe Exam Browser, but not both.
