Webex integration for live training

Instructors create Webex Meetings and Webex Webinars from an Intellum course session. Learners get personal join links, instructors join as co-hosts and attended time returns as progress. Each instructor connects their own Webex account.

How it connects
Native via Webex OAuth, per instructor
Who sets it up
Instructors connect, admins schedule
What moves
Two-way: events out, attendance in

Common uses of the Webex integration

  • Instructors run Webex training without managing invitee lists by hand, since enrollment drives invites.
  • L&D leaders track completion for Webex sessions from attended time in each learner’s record.
  • Instructors run webinar-format sessions in Webex with distinct presenter and attendee roles.

How the Webex integration works

Each instructor authorizes their own Webex account. Setting a course session’s location type to Webex Meeting or Webex Webinar creates the Webex event on save, with matching title, description and time. Updates and deletions sync.

Enrollment drives the invitee list, including unenrollments and transfers. Learners get a personal join link that needs no Webex account. About an hour after the session ends, Intellum pulls the attendance report and matches participants by email.

How to set up the Webex integration

Every instructor authorizes Webex before sessions are scheduled. Admins then set the location type on each course session.

  • Cisco Webex account with meeting capabilities
  • Webinar capabilities, if you run Webex Webinars

How the Intellum and Webex integration handles access and data

  • Authentication: Webex OAuth per instructor. There’s no account-wide connection.
  • Data that moves: Intellum sends event details, invitees and co-hosts to Webex. Webex returns attended time for each participant.
  • Personal data: attendance data identifies the learner and lands in the learner’s Intellum record.
  • Join links: personal links are single-use in practice, can’t be shared or bookmarked and expire 60 minutes after they’re generated.
  • Revoked access: if an instructor’s authorization is revoked, that instructor renews it.

What to know about the Webex integration

  • Progress depends on accurate session durations.
  • No-show status applies to the final session only.

Questions about the Webex integration

How does Webex integrate with an LMS?

Each instructor connects their own Webex account to Intellum. Choosing Webex Meeting or Webex Webinar as a course session’s location type then creates the event on save, invites enrolled learners and returns attended time as progress.

No. Each learner gets a personalized join URL that needs no Webex account. The link expires 60 minutes after it’s generated and can’t be shared or bookmarked.

Intellum pulls the attendance report about an hour after the session ends and retries hourly for up to 24 hours. Admins can also run a manual sync. Attended time updates each learner’s progress.

Yes. Choosing Webex Webinar as the location type creates the webinar, with instructors as co-hosts and enrolled learners as invitees. Your Webex account needs webinar capabilities.
