Zoom integration for live training

Admins and instructors create Zoom Meetings and Zoom Webinars from an Intellum course session. Enrolled learners get personal join links, and attended time comes back as progress. An admin with Zoom admin rights connects Zoom once.

How it connects
Native via Zoom OAuth, one account per site
Who sets it up
Intellum admin with Zoom admin rights
What moves
Two-way: sessions out, attendance in

Common uses of the Zoom integration

  • Learners register for and join live Zoom webinars or meetings straight from the course session.
  • Compliance leads report completion from attended time, with no manual attendance reconciliation.
  • Instructors run large-audience Zoom Webinars as panelists while learners attend from the course session.

How the Zoom integration works

An admin connects the organization’s Zoom account once. On each course session, an admin or instructor picks Zoom Meeting or Zoom Webinar as the location type and enters the email of a licensed Zoom host. Saving creates the meeting or webinar.

Enrollment drives registration, and each learner gets a personal join link. Instructors become alternative hosts, and panelists on webinars. About two hours after the session ends, Intellum pulls Zoom’s participant report, matches it to enrollments and calculates progress from time present.

How to set up the Zoom integration

An Intellum admin with Zoom admin privileges connects the Zoom account once. Instructors then choose the location type and host email on each course session. Intellum registers any custom domain with Zoom before use.

  • Zoom account with admin privileges
  • Meeting capabilities, plus webinar capabilities if you run webinars
  • Every host is a licensed Zoom user whose email matches their Intellum email

Zoom admins can find the Intellum app in the Zoom App Marketplace.

Security and IT

How the Intellum and Zoom integration handles access and data

  • Authentication: Zoom OAuth at the account level, with one Zoom connection per site.
  • Account ownership: every meeting and webinar is created in the connected Zoom account, so connect an organization-owned account.
  • Data that moves: Intellum sends meeting details, learner registrations and instructor host roles to Zoom. Zoom returns participant attendance and duration.
  • Personal data: attendance and registration data identify the learner and land in the learner’s Intellum record.
  • Sync: Intellum retries the participant report hourly for up to 24 hours. Manual sync is available and never marks no-shows.

What to know about the Zoom integration

  • Zoom limits registrations to three per person per meeting per day.
  • Unlicensed hosts can’t start sessions.
  • Joins up to an hour before the start count toward attended time.

Questions about the Zoom integration

How do you integrate Zoom with an LMS?

In Intellum, an admin with Zoom admin rights connects the organization’s Zoom account once. Admins and instructors then choose Zoom Meeting or Zoom Webinar as a course session’s location type, and saving creates the meeting or webinar.

Intellum calculates progress from each learner’s time present in Zoom’s participant report. It pulls the report about two hours after the session ends, matches it to enrollments and retries hourly for up to 24 hours.

Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Google Meet, GoTo Meeting, GoTo Training, GoTo Webinar, Adobe Connect and VHall. Zoom, Teams, Webex and GoTo Webinar return attendance as progress, and Google Meet returns attendance when tracking is enabled.

Yes. Enrollment drives Zoom registration, so each enrolled learner gets a personal join link from the course session. Instructors join webinars as panelists, and Zoom allows each person three registrations per meeting per day.

Connect an organization-owned Zoom account with admin privileges. Every meeting and webinar is created in the connected account, and each site has one Zoom connection. Hosts must be licensed Zoom users whose email matches their Intellum email.
